Beyond The Pole Named on list of 10 Best Films of 2009

Examiner.com published their list of the 10 best films of 2009. Steven Lebowitz of the West Palm Beach Movie Examiner wrote the following:

2009 ended up being the biggest year for movies, raking in more than 10 billion dollars. This is thanks in large part to the great quality of films this past year, or in some cases, just some marvelous entertainment to help one escape from life for just a little while. Examiner has reviewed many films this past year, including almost weekly midnight movies on Thursday nights so a new review was awaiting reads Friday morning. These reviews have gone through many title changes which included, “Opening Day at Midnight”, “The Midnight Review”, cleaver sentences with a movie title (i.e. ‘Planet 51’ falls way out of orbit), and currently, “The Midnight Movie Review”. The following is a list of the ten best movies of 2009 reviewed byExaminer.com.

#8 “Beyond the Pole” – From UK filmmaker David Williams this great mockumentary follows two best friends as they try to become the first carbon neutral, vegetarian, organic expedition to the North Pole. Christopher Guest would have been proud to call this his own. The film was a big hit this year at FLIFF. If the filmmaker chose to tell his story in a different style it probably would not have worked as well, but the mocumentary approach is what helps this film fire on all cylinders. The film is getting its due diligence over in the UK in 2010, and hopefully will be making its way back into the states as well.
(I know Alexander Skarsgard fans in the US can not wait for this movie to be released in the US!) Congratulations to David Williams for the recognition!
#7 “District 9”
#6 “Star Trek
#3 “Up
#2 “Up in the Air
#1 “Avatar

Again congratulations to David Williams and the cast and crew of Beyond the Pole!
