Take a Bite out of Whaling

Kristen Bauer from HBO"s "True Blood" was at the Lush Store in Santa Monica on Saturday November 7, 2009. She was there as part of the IFAW's Tails for Whales Campaign. I attended the event with my husband and son. After taking a photo of us doing the "tails for whales" we were able to meet and speak with Ms. Bauer aka Vampire Pam Ravenscroft on "True Blood". She was absolutely beautiful and very nice to all the fans! Especially this flustered fan who almost missed the event due to some extra awful LA traffic.

She signed my bottle of Tru-Blood and took photos with us without any hesitation. Normally I don't do the whole photograph with the celbrity but in this case I just could not resist!  I even was able to "convince" my husband to let me take his photograph with her. (ok it was not that hard of a pitch..He loves Pam on True Blood. That's why we love True Blood, he has Pam, I get Eric. LOL). I let her know about the websites I admin and how we had links to the causes such as this wonderful one so signed some HBO prints she had with her and autographed them for us without needing to ask!

My husband asked her about the fangs she wears for the show and if there were uncomfortable. Kristen said yes there were a bit uncomfortable since they were large and also were difficult  to speak with them on. It took some practice to get used to them. According to Ms. Bauer they cause one to "lisp" a bit when wearing them so it is hard to say the lines with them on. I asked her if many True Blood fans had been there that day and she said that yes there have been quite a few to the store. When I asked here were there any Eric fans she laughed and said "Yes! there seem to be a lot of Eric fans in the store!". (no surprise to me..LOL) I let her know about how all the fans at the Eric Northman Thread on the HBO Member forums also love her character and she was very happy to hear that. She is looking forward to filming for season 3 next month. (YAY)

I mentioned how many fans were upset by the lack of airtime for her character of Pam in season 2 of True Blood. She said she heard from the recent Paley event with Alan Ball and the writers of the show how "Pam would definitely receive more air time in season 3" and she was very happy for that. One of my favorite scenes with her from last season was when she mentioned to Eric how she ruined her shoes..(those were some great pumps..) As I mentioned, I talked her ear of about how much fun it is to watch True Blood especially with her and Alexander in their roles as Pam and Eric.

We chatted a bit about her artwork. For those who may not know it, Kristen is an amazing artist. Her paintings include portraits, live studies and fine art. She attended art school in New York, St. Louis and Boston. To see a sample of her artwork please visit her website: click here for KristenBauer.com

She was very nice to me and my family and I was so grateful to her for letting us take a few photos together. She even asked to take a photo with my son while she was holding the bottle of Tru-Blood she signed. It was nice to see how approachable she was and how committed she is to helping support the IFAW with this cause. Alexander Skarsgard has also lent support for this cause and the flyers they distributed in the store had photos of Alexander doing the "tails for whales" with his hands.
