True Blood Season Finale

Well..The waiting is over. Fans were able to see the season finale of True Blood. Here is a review of the finale by EW.com:

There will be quite a variety in opinions on this episode. From the initial board postings over on the HBO member forums, the posts ranged from disbelief in the cliffhanger, the selection of scenes to a bit of dismay over how slowly some of the show seemed. Once again Alan Ball left fans wondering and waiting for another season to start and answer all the questions we were left with at the end of this season.

My favorite part was seeing Charlaine Harris speaking with Sam at the bar shown below:

Entry updated on 9/14/09 to include the following:

1. A  great article by Televisionary. Televisionary spoke with Alan Ball "Blood Bath". Jace was able to interview Alan this morning post True Blood finale and dig into more of the questions fans have been left with after last night's episode. It looks like fans will be seeing new supernatural creatures in season 3: Werewolves! Click here for link to article

2. EW.com post mortem discussion with Alan Ball: Click here for link to article on EW.com Here is an excerpt from the article where Alan discusses Alexander's character of Eric Northman:

Why wasn’t there more Eric in the finale?
BALL:
There is a reason for not seeing Eric in the last part of the episode, but if I explain it, I’ll be [giving away] too much.

Will he be prominent next season?
BALL:
Yes. Although, when I saw your [latest episode of Ausiello TV], for a moment I thought, we’re going to have to kill Eric, because you are the man. I thought wow, I had many seasons of Eric planned but I guess I’ll have to off him. [Laughs]

Speaking of which, are you surprised at how passionate the Sookie/Eric fans are?
BALL:
Yes. I try not to get involved in that because it just sort of — it’s too confusing. I don’t want it to influence what the show is. Personally, I’m like, yes, Eric’s hot, but beyond that he’s dangerous, and I don’t know if he’d love anybody besides himself. What’s the appeal there? The bad boy? The danger?

Ok..that last part where Alan is saying what is the appeal there for Eric really is a good question. I know for me as a fan part of the appeal was at first the "bad boy" aspect but after reading the books more of the appeal was based on the deeper layers of Eric that Ms. Harris did show fans. Hopefully the Eric fans of the show will get to see some of the layers to his character in the upcoming season. I know it was a bit of a let down (ok a HUGE letdown) for me as a fan of Eric to not have him in a larger role in the finale. Here's hoping for more airtime in Season 3.
